DAY 1 Thursday February 16, 2023 Cape Town, South Africa
We depart Australia and travel to Cape Town, South Africa. Known as the “Mother City”, Cape Town is the oldest city in South Africa. Perched between the ocean and Table Mountain, with a national park as its heart, there is nowhere like Cape Town.
DAY 2 Friday February 17, 2023 Cape Town
On arrival we join our local guide, who will take us on a sightseeing tour to see many fabulous sights such as the imposing brick and stucco Houses of Parliament, the Victoria and Alfred dock area, and the Bo-Kaap area, where the Cape Malays live in brightly-coloured cube houses dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. We take the cable car up Table Mountain for wonderful views of Table Bay, the city and the sea (weather permitting). Later we check in to our hotel.
DAY 3 Saturday February 18, 2023 Cape Town
Today we will enjoy a full day tour to the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point, the most southwesterly tip of Africa. These promontories were key beacons for the early explorers and are the source of many myths and legend. At the Cape we will visit the famous lighthouse first erected in 1860. En route we will visit Simons Town, a pretty coastal town which is South Africa’s main naval base and consists of lovely Victorian buildings, quaint streets and walkways and a fascinating history.

DAY 7 Wednesday February 22, 2023 Walvis Bay, Namibia
Walvis Bay is a small port on the Skeleton Coast of Namibia and the gateway to the Namib Desert. Sheltered by the Pelican Point sand spit, its tidal lagoon is home to abundant birdlife including flamingos, pelicans and Damara terns. The harbour is busy with fishing boats and ships. Dolphins, whales and Cape fur seals inhabit the Atlantic waters around the Pelican Point Lighthouse. Take a tour into the desert or explore the curio markets, craft shops, art galleries, museums and the beachfront.
DAY 8 Thursday February 23, 2023 Luderitz, Namibia
This German village huddled on the coast of the vast Namib Desert is a surreal relic of German colonial rule. The village was founded by the Bremen merchant Adolf Lüderitz who, being a tobacco merchant, was interested in planting tobacco in Africa. Speculating on mineral deposits in the area and establishing colonial territory in Africa, persuaded Bismarck to place South West Africa under German control in 1884. Diamonds in the desert made it all happen, and it is as if a German village was suddenly plucked from Europe and set down on the African coast, caught between the icy South Atlantic and the burning desert. The Atlantic waters off Lüderitz are home to seals, penguins and other marine life.
DAY 9 Friday February 24, 2023 At sea
A free day to enjoy the facilities of the ship. Perhaps take a dance class or just relax by the pool.
