7 Nights Queen Elizabeth
Includes Flights, Meals, Accommodation, Guided Sightseeing
Departures
Melbourne, Adelaide, Kangaroo Island, Hobart
The Queen Elizabeth is sleek and contemporary with the most advanced technological features and luxurious appointments. The Queen Elizabeth continues the heritage of cruising of the 1930s and the great Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth 2 and Queen Mary 2. The great traditions of fine service, food and entertainment continue better than ever. Enjoy the facilities of the gourmet restaurants, swimming pools, the casino, theatres, the cinema, computer and internet access, the Health and Spa Club, seven bars and much more. Take part in the multitude of daily activities that include numerous lectures on an array of topics, the regular musical performances, ship sports and much more. A voyage on the Queen Elizabeth is an exceptional experience to be savoured and remembered!
During the day casual clothing is typical, although shorts and swimwear are not permitted in the formal restaurants. Nights at sea are classified as formal for dress purposes and nights in port are classified as informal. During the evening on formal nights, a dinner suit or dark suit for gentlemen and eveningwear for ladies is required in the main restaurants. On informal nights, a jacket and tie is required for gentlemen and equivalent for ladies. Casual nights require a collared shirt for gentlemen. The self-service restaurants are casual.
The cruise represents amazing value. There are no extras, everything is included in the one great price. Port and handling and gratuities, normally expensive extras, are included in the price.
About a third of people on the cruise travel alone. We will match people in twin-share cabins when available, saving you the single supplement. There will be group activities most days. The cruise is fully escorted and will be a great fun holiday. Each evening you will dine with the group at our reserved tables. You will meet a fun group of people and have a fabulous time.
DAY 1 Sunday February 10, 2019 Embarkation Melbourne
This afternoon we board Queen Elizabeth for our garden cruise to Kangaroo Island. Meet Jane on deck to enjoy spectacular views as we cruise Port Phillip Bay and out through the heads.
DAY 2 Monday February 11, 2019 At sea
The morning will be free to explore the ship. In the afternoon, join Jane Edmanson for a game of Garden Trivial Pursuit. We will divide the group into teams to compete in answering garden questions. This is a great way to meet your fellow group members and there will be prizes for the winners. We will enjoy a drinks party this evening to formally meet Jane Edmanson and other tour members.
DAY 3 Tuesday February 12, 2019 Kangaroo Island
After disembarking in the morning at Kangaroo Island, we travel by coach to the Lathami Conservation Park, an immense shrubland and breeding sanctuary for the Glossy Black Cockatoo, a rare bird found only on this island. Afterwards we will visit the Stokes Bay Bush Garden, home to over 150 species of plants unique to Kangaroo Island. The garden spans more than 3 hectares, and features a wide variety of plants including Dryandras, Orchids, and Grevilleas. The afternoon brings us to the southern coast of the island, where we will have a tour of Seal Bay, viewing the Sea Lion colony and learning about their habitats before returning to the port early evening.
DAY 4 Wednesday February 13, 2019 Adelaide
We dock in Adelaide today, a gracious city, where the early settlers built attractive stone buildings. The city has a superb setting surrounded by green parkland. We will enjoy a panoramic tour of Adelaide. We will see the art gallery, museum, state library, university and the casino. We continue on to visit the Adelaide Botanic Garden. We will have a guided tour of the restored Victorian Palm House and the National Rose Trial Garden as well as the International Rose Garden. There should be a gorgeous display of roses at this time of year. This afternoon we will visit Carrick Hill, built 62 years ago. We will enjoy a guide tour of the house. The interior is 400 years old and was shipped from England. The house contains many wonderful antiques. The gardens feature a large assortment of roses including important collections of old fashioned roses and Australian roses. Jane will escort us around the garden.
DAY 5 Thursday February 14, 2019 At sea
We have a free day at sea today to enjoy the many facilities and activities aboard the ship. In the afternoon Jane Edmanson will give a talk on her career in horticulture and the media, and answer any questions you might have.
DAY 6 Friday February 15, 2019 Hobart
We dock in Hobart this morning. We will have a guided tour of Hobart before visiting the ‘Patch’ at the Hobart Botanical Garden, an inspiring example of an urban community garden that was first started in 1995. This afternoon we visit Corinda, an enchanting inner-city garden positioned around a beautifully restored Victorian house. Since the early nineties Wilmar Bouman and Matthew Ryan have recreated the garden of a century-old property. A pleached linden tree walk in the shape of a U, under planted with clipped box hedges, frames the garden. Flower-packed perennial beds overflow with colour, contrasting with an intricate, stylised parterre and a profusion of hostas, lilies and other shade-lovers under mature trees. We return to the ship for an evening at leisure.
DAY 7 Saturday February 16, 2019 At sea
Today you are free to enjoy some of the many activities available aboard Queen Elizabeth. Why not enjoy a spa or massage in the Wellness Centre, take a relaxing swim, an exercise class at the gym or play quoits or shuttle board.
DAY 8 Sunday February 17, 2019 Melbourne
This morning we arrive back into Melbourne.
